Welcome

Welcome to St Albans United Football Club (previously VPFC).

We are a friendly and inclusive FA Accredited football club in St Albans, offering football opportunities to school-aged girls and boys. Our club is built on community, building confidence, teamwork, and most importantly, having fun.

At St Albans United, we offer two different but connected pathways:

✔️ Our Skills Section is where players can develop their technique and grow their love for the game.

✔️ Our League Section is for those who are ready to take competitive football, while still developing in a positive and friendly environment.

St Albans United Skills Section – Fun, Football and Development

The Skills Section is where every player at St Albans United starts their football journey. Whether your child is just starting out or already loves the game, our Saturday morning sessions are designed to help them build their skills at their own pace. We focus on making each session fun, welcoming, and supportive for everyone.

What You Can Expect at St Albans United

Here’s what a typical morning at our Skills sessions looks like:
✅ A warm-up to get moving
✅ 2 to 4 focused activities that help build skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting
Small-sided games and group matches where kids can use the skills they’ve learned

We focus on participation, development, and fun, making sure every child builds confidence and improves at their own pace.

St Albans United League Section – Competitive Football, Same Club Values

If you want to play competitive matches, our League Section lets you develop your skills while staying part of the St Albans United community.

What Does League Football Involve?

St Albans United works with four Hertfordshire youth football leagues, so our teams have plenty of competitive options as players move up through the club:

  • Herts Youth League (HYL) – our long-standing home for boys’, girls’ and mixed teams at primary school age.
  • Herts Girls Football Partnership League (HGFPL) – Hertfordshire’s dedicated girls’ league, known for its welcoming, community-focused spirit.
  • West Herts Youth League (WHYL) – mostly a local Sunday league, it is a good next step for teams moving into secondary-school-age groups.
  • Mid Herts League (MHL) – a large, well-established league with many clubs and a wide range of playing standards across Hertfordshire.

Teams train during the week and play both home and away games on Saturday or Sunday mornings, depending on age group.

Even as we move into more competitive football, our values remain the same. Fun, inclusion, teamwork, and long-term player development always come first.

🫶 A Charity Led by Volunteers

St Albans United is run entirely by volunteers and is a registered charity (no. 1215273).

Our purpose is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing opportunities and facilities for children to take part in sport in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

We are a not-for-profit club. All our money goes back into the club for things like equipment, insurance, and pitch hire. Any extra funds help us create more opportunities for local players.

No one at the club is paid. Our coaches, administrators, and committee members are all volunteers. They are parents and community members who give their time to help children grow through sport.

We played as VPFCVictoria Playing Fields Football Club until the end of the 2025/26 season. Starting in the 2026/27 season, we will be known as St Albans United. Our blue-and-yellow kit, along with the community spirit that makes our club special, remains unchanged.
