The Assistant Coach – Skills Group supports the Head Coach in delivering fun, engaging football sessions for young players at St Albans United. This is a great opportunity to get involved in grassroots football, whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to coaching.
Key Responsibilities
⚽ Support Training Sessions
- Assist in leading warm-ups and structured drills.
- Work with small groups to improve core football skills (dribbling, passing, shooting).
- Ensure all children are engaged, supported, and having fun.
👥 Encourage Teamwork & Sportsmanship
- Promote St Albans United’s inclusive and positive club culture.
- Help players build confidence and develop at their own pace.
- Support children in understanding the rules of the game and playing fairly.
🏆 Help with Session Organisation
- Assist with setting up and packing away equipment.
- Provide feedback to the Head Coach on player progress.
Desirable Experience or Qualifications
✅ No formal coaching qualifications required—just a passion for football and youth sport!
✅ Previous experience working with children is helpful but not necessary.
✅ Enthusiastic, positive, and willing to learn.
💡 FA Coaching Support
St Albans United supports all new coaches in completing the FA Introduction to Coaching Football course, as well as FA Safeguarding Children and First Aid training. All coaching roles require a DBS criminal records check before starting.
Time Commitment
🕒 Saturday morning training: 1.5 hours (9:30-11:00 AM).
