Join St Albans United

Welcome to St Albans United 👋. This page explains how to apply for your child to join the club.

When you apply, select your child’s current school year (e.g. a child in Year 3 should be registered under “Year 3”).

Details on fees, trial sessions, and how to use Pitchero to register are all set out below.

How to Join St Albans United

✔️ Step 1 – Apply Online
We use Pitchero to manage applications and communication. All families must complete an application before attending a session. No informal tryouts are available due to safeguarding policies and limited spaces.

👉 Click here for step-by-step instructions on how to apply.

✔️ Step 2 – Wait for Confirmation
Once we receive your application, please allow time for us to review it. We’ll send you a message confirming whether:

  • There is space available and provide joining instructions on when and where to attend.
  • The group is currently full, and your child has been added to the waiting list.

📢 Please do not attend until you have received joining instructions.

✔️ Step 3 – Free Trial & Subscription
Once your child has attended their two free trial sessions, let us know if you wish to continue. We will then follow up with a payment link to complete your registration.

Who Can Join?

St Albans United welcomes girls and boys of all skill levels. Our Skills groups run from Reception to Year 6, while our League Teams run from U7 to U18. New members can join throughout the year, subject to availability.

Unfortunately, we are at full capacity in some year groups. See below for the current status:

Spaces Available: Reception, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6
Waiting Lists: Year 1, Year 2, Year 3.

If there is a Waiting List, please apply to join the Waiting List group for that year group when submitting your membership request.

If a parent or guardian volunteers for a key club role, their child will be prioritised for admission.

FAQ – Common Questions

Can I try a session before signing up?

The first two sessions after registration are free trials. However, you need to submit a registration request and be invited to attend before coming along. Due to safeguarding policies, and to ensure we can properly look after all children in our care, all children must be registered before attending. This means we must have parental details on record before participation and can contact parents if anything comes up.

Can I apply directly to a League team?

All new players join our Skills Section first. League teams are built from, and continually recruit through, those Skills groups:

• When an existing league squad needs extra players, its manager contacts the relevant Skills coaches to invite interested children for a trial.
• Likewise, if your child would like to move into league football, let your Skills coach know—they’ll pass the name to the league managers so your child is considered when places open up.

Starting in Skills ensures every player has the core technique and confidence to enjoy League football when the right opportunity arises.

Can I register for a future season?

We only accept applications when a child is ready to join now.
Please apply to your child’s current school year (Reception–Year 6) when you intend them to start attending straight away.

Exception – next year’s Reception:
Around Easter we open a dedicated group—“Reception 20XX/20YY”—for children starting school the following September. We’ll announce it here and via parent messages once it’s live.

Can I adjust my Pitchero application if I made an error?

Yes! Log in to Pitchero on a desktop, go to Membership Info, and edit your details.

How long does it take to process my application?

  • Most applications are processed within 1-2 weeks.
  • If you haven’t heard back after four weeks, you can contact your year group coordinator:

📧 Reception: VPFCReception@gmail.com
📧 Year 1: VPFCYear1@gmail.com
📧 Year 2: VPFCYear2@gmail.com
📧 Year 3: VPFCYear3@gmail.com
📧 Year 4: VPFCYear4@gmail.com
📧 Year 5: VPFCYear5@gmail.com
📧 Year 6: VPFCYear6@gmail.com

📢 If after a further two weeks you’ve not had a response, come and see us at one of our Saturday sessions.

🙏 Please remember everyone at the club is a volunteer, and it can be difficult to find time outside our sessions for handling administration.
