Our League Team Secretaries play a vital role in helping each team run smoothly, ensuring that players are properly registered and matches are well coordinated.
You’ll work alongside the coaches and the wider club, supporting communications with both our families and the opposition — helping everything flow behind the scenes so that players and coaches can focus on the football.
🧾 Player Registration
Each summer, you’ll help register players with both the FA and the relevant league. That means:
- Gathering any required details and documents
- Supporting parents to complete the process
- Ensuring the full squad is properly registered before the season starts
Don’t worry — the FA website has online support, and others who’ve done it before will help you through the process if it’s your first time.
📆 Match Coordination
Each week, you’ll work with the opposition to confirm the match arrangements:
- Kick-off time
- Pitch location
- Kit colours
- Any additional info (e.g. parking or facilities)
Once confirmed, you’ll share the details with your team’s families, usually via Signal.
🏠 Home Fixtures
When we’re the home team, you’ll contact the opposition to:
- Confirm the match time and location
- Share key info (parking, toilets, café etc.)
- Make sure they know where to go and what to expect
You’ll also pass that same info to your own families — using the standard templates makes this quick and simple.
🚗 Away Fixtures
When we’re away, you’ll:
- Receive info from the other team
- Share that with your parents
- Confirm if any issues arise (e.g. clashes or late changes)
It’s about making sure everyone gets where they need to be with confidence and clarity.
🛠️ What skills do I need?
Just a bit of organisation, a willingness to use Signal, WhatsApp and Email, and the ability to communicate clearly.
You don’t need football knowledge or previous experience — and you won’t be on your own. The club provides guidance and supports new secretaries as they learn the ropes.
🤝 Why take it on?
It’s a great way to be involved in your child’s football journey, contribute to the team, and make sure matches go ahead smoothly each week. You’ll play an important part in making grassroots football happen.
